Ardrishaig - the village

Ardrishaig is situated on the south side of Loch Gilp at the entrance of the Crinan Canal. The Ardrishaig Community Council is an elected body charged with ascertaining the views of the Community and representing these views to Argyll & Bute Council and other public bodies so as to maintain and improve the village environment. The Council normally meets on the first Tuesday of the month in the Public Hall, Ardrishaig, at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to all members of the Community; come to our meetings with your issues and talk directly with your Community Councillors.

Regeneration Activity

Last year we setup three community council working groups - Bayview Play Park, Festive Lights and King George's Field Improvement. These groups were successful in obtaining grants from the our Community Trust ACTion Fund. There is now a new spiral climbing frame in the Bayview Park, the christmas lights were a great success -they will be back next christmas.

As a way of simulating discussion on ideas for the regeneration of the Ardrishaig area, "brainstorming" meetings have been initiated. The first was held 24th January 2014, attended by community councillors, trust directors, representatives from Argyll & Bute Council and representatives from Scottish Canals. A second meeting was held March 14th. Third meeting held 2nd April. A fourth meeting was held 13th June and a fifth Thursday 4th September. The notes of these meetings are here as they become available. We report back to the community on the outcomes of these meetings at our community council meetings.

Next meeting of the brain stormers (community councillors and anyone else interested) may be 6thNovember.
